Install the Pommy AI plugin from the WordPress plugin directory.
WordPress sites have their own Pommy AI plugin. It does everything the install code does, and a little more: it survives theme changes, keeps caching and optimisation plugins from breaking the widget, and knows about WooCommerce — so the chat bubble steps aside on the checkout page.
It lives in the official WordPress plugin directory — wordpress.org/plugins/pommy-ai — so you install it the same way you install any other plugin: search for it inside your own admin and click install. WordPress offers new versions on its own.
What you need#
- A WordPress site you host yourself — the kind your hosting company installs for you. (On wordpress.com, plugin installation needs a paid plan.)
- WordPress 5.9 or newer and PHP 7.2 or newer — anything from the last few years qualifies.
- Permission to install plugins. If your Plugins menu has no Add New, your host has switched plugin installation off; see the note at the bottom of this page.
Install it#
- Copy your two values
In Pommy, open Integrations and click the WordPress card. The setup panel shows the two values you'll paste in a moment: your Project ID and your API address. Leave the tab open.
- Install the plugin
In your WordPress admin go to Plugins → Add New, search for Pommy AI, and click Install Now on the result. Nothing to download and nothing to upload.
- Activate
When the install finishes, click Activate. A Pommy AI entry appears under Settings.
- Connect it to your project
Open Settings → Pommy AI, paste the Project ID and the API address from step 1, and click Save.
- Test the connection
Click Test connection. It should answer with your project's name. If it can't find the project, the Project ID was pasted wrong — copy it again from Integrations.
- Look at your site
Open your site in a new tab. The chat bubble is bottom-right. That's it — nothing to add to your theme.
If you run a WooCommerce store#
The plugin recognises WooCommerce on its own; there is nothing extra to install. Out of the box it hides the chat bubble on the checkout page — a customer typing in card details shouldn't have a chat window over the form. Everywhere else, including the cart, the bubble stays.
Keeping it up to date#
Nothing to do. WordPress checks the directory for you and shows the update on the Plugins screen like any other; click Update now, or turn on auto-updates for it. Your Project ID and API address survive every update.
Tip: Search finds nothing, or there's no Add New at all? Some hosting packages switch plugin installation off. Integrations → WordPress keeps a .zip of the same plugin for that case — download it there and use Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin (don't unzip it first). If uploads are blocked too, ask your host to enable them, or skip the plugin and paste the install code from Integrations → Custom into your theme (see Installing the widget). That last route loses the checkout rule, so on a WooCommerce store it's worth the phone call.
Warning: If the bubble doesn't appear, a caching or optimisation plugin is the usual culprit. The Pommy plugin already asks them to leave its code alone; if one still swallows it, clear the site cache once and reload.
